WELCOME TO WANDERING JONES TRAVEL

As you move through this life and this world you change things slightly, you leave marks behind, however small. And in return, life — and travel — leaves marks on you. Most of the time, those marks — on your body or on your heart — are beautiful. Often, though, they hurt.”      -Anthony Bourdain

It’s true.  Travel can leave some pretty painful marks: a 12+ hour flight delay, the classic “wallet stolen at gun-point”, or my personal favorite, the hotel that looked great in pictures, but had blood stains on the carpet.  I know, disgusting.    I’ve personally experienced all of these things and more, but who cares.  If anything, those experiences have given me some really good stories to tell.

I started this blog out of a desire to talk about travel and trade stories about the beautiful and unique places I’ve been.  When I meet someone for the first time, the conversation inevitably turns to an upcoming or recent travel experience.  And on the rare occasion I don’t have a trip planned, beware, I’m going to be a wicked combination of antsy, restless, and grumpy.  So, to give my friends and family a little break, this travel blog was born.

So what will this blog be about?

A little bit of everything.  I’ve been playing around with the idea of sharing my travel experiences for years, but never knew where to start.  If you read my About Me page, you already know that I currently work a pretty normal (and slightly “challenging”) 9-5 office job.  Most of my traveling is done within the construct of a typical corporate vacation policy, which lucky for me, has been quite favorable.  I think this aligns more closely with how most of us travel, and gives me a unique perspective compared to other travel bloggers.  As much as I’d love to make a living traveling the globe blogging all the way, that’s not my reality.

My goal with this blog is to share tips and tricks I’ve learned along the way, and of course, share some great stories and offer up recommendations of things to do and see in cities across the globe.  Hopefully, I can help you limit those painful travel “marks”.  This blog is an open invitation to contact me if you ever have questions or want more details on a particular destination.  And feel free to leave me a note in the comment section as I’ll be checking these frequently.  I hope you enjoy this blog as much as I enjoy writing it.

Happy travels, my friends.
